MEET THE TRAINER

Jess and her dog Dexter at a mondio ring trial

jessica HUFFMASTER, CCFT

Jess began to develop her feel and path in the animal world over 20 years ago with her roots in classical dressage (an English horseback riding discipline that literally means “to train”) teaching riding lessons, and supporting the care of a barn full of equine athletes. Although Jess has worked with animals most of her life, her passion for dog training was ignited in 2013 by her “problem dog,” Piper. Piper catapulted Jess into a world of behavior modification and sport training working with many experienced trainers, and she never looked back.

Jess is a firm believer in training the dog in front of you, and continually exploring new ways to improve our canine companions’ behavior. As a trainer, Jess is dedicated to continuous learning in order to always provide the highest level of service for her clients and their dogs here in Medina, and the surrounding North East Ohio area. She is a certified Magnawave PEMF Practitioner, is certified as a CCFT: an accredited program through the University of Tennessee focused on conditioning for the canine athlete (CCFT), and is a Professional Member of the IACP, as well as a certified AKC CGC, Trick Dog, STAR Puppy, and Virtual Home Manners Evaluator.

Jess is also an active competitor and member of the United States Mondio Ring Association, North American Ringsport Association and the DVG. She is also a sanctioned judge and competitor with the American Pulling Alliance (APA), United Pulling Federation (UPF), and the World Wide Weight Pull Organization (W3PO).

Our pack

Jess currently shares her home with a pack of four dogs aged 4 to 11 years old: an American Staffordshire Terrier, two APBT, and a GSD/Husky mix. Her dogs train and compete in a variety of dog sports including Mondio Ring, IGP (Schutzhund), Weight Pull, Conformation, Fast CATS, Rally, Nose Work, and Dock Diving.

Fun Facts:
Dexter is the fourth ever American Pit Bull Terrier in the world to achieve the Mondio Ring 1 (MR1) title, and was the 16th highest scoring level one dog in the USMRA in 2022. He currently has his FR1 (one leg of his French Ring 1 title), and is on track to be the FIRST APBT in the US to earn a level one title in both Mondioring and French Ring (R1). We are very proud of this big guy!

Jess’s dogs have also competed in and placed at a national level in weight pull and rally-obedience for over six years.
