Obedience Training for All Dogs.
it’s about more than
“down” & “Stay”.
we believe in teaching your dog, as much as we believe in teaching you to understand your dog.
Whether you have a new puppy you want to start off on the right foot, or have an older dog that needs a little extra training, we know it can be frustrating when you feel lost at the end of the leash. Training is all about balance…and it should be fun! When you understand how you and your dog relate to each other, the more effective (and rewarding) training will be. We make better behaved dogs, by improving our communication and relationship with them. Regardless of what program you choose, we will work with you to develop a training plan focused on your specific obedience and behavior goals.
Training programs
.board & trainS
A perfect jumpstart on a better life with your dog. For dogs older than 6 months, we offer 3 to 6+ week home-based obedience Board & Train programs focusing on on-leash and off-leash behavior. This program allows your dog to learn the basics in a familiar and comfortable home environment. All dogs enrolled in our board & train program enjoy field trips to local parks, stores, and walking trails. We also provide a foundation for potty training for dogs of any age. Our ultimate goal is to create routines for your dog that facilitate reliable obedience in home and away from home, under distractions. Dogs completing this program will learn loose leash walking, sit, down, stay, loose leash recalls, “place” (dog stays on a dog bed during distractions), kennel manners, doorway/threshold manners, and waiting for food. We do the training, and you get to enjoy a lifetime of results! Off leash training is also offered during stays four-weeks and longer.
.day training
Send your dog to us for a day of learning, instead of boredom at home. Alternatively, we will come and train your dog while you’re at work or on the town! This program requires one initial private session to complete an evaluation and align on your training goals. Think of day training as elementary school for your pup - dogs that spend the day with us get dropped off in the morning and go home at night. Day training packages include a minimum of two private lessons so that we can ultimately teach you how to communicate effectively with your dog, however we always recommend that day training sessions are coupled with a few additional private obedience lessons to maximize the program! Day training programs are offered within 50 miles* of Medina, OH. Clients outside of a 30 mile radius will incur a travel fee.
.private lessons
Private lessons are one-on-one, personalized training sessions in your home for you and your dog to learn together. Private lessons are available for dogs and puppies that just need to learn basic obedience as well as dogs that may need a little extra help with problem behaviors such as leash pulling, jumping, reactivity, etc. Problem behaviors are usually a symptom of another imbalance in your dog’s life, and not the problem itself. Our obedience lessons help to identify the root causes of your dog’s behaviors such as:
Adrenaline addiction / Over-arousal
Poor social skills
Fear
Unclear communication
Etc.
We will work with you to develop a training plan focused on your specific obedience and behavior goals. By observing how you and your dog work as a team, we can develop a training plan to resolve the challenges you may be facing with your dog. Private lessons are offered in packages as well as individual sessions. Families outside of a 30-mile radius will incur a travel fee.
Please Note: Although we handle aggression cases on a regular basis, dogs with a bite-history may not be eligible for private lessons and may be referred to one of our other training programs.
.Perfect Puppy Program
The ultimate puppy package that specializes in teaching your puppy basic manners, crate training, focus and attention work, potty training, and off-leash reliability. All equipment and follow-up lessons are included!
In the first phase of the program, we start with one private lesson and then jump into roughly two weeks of day training with up to ten drop-off day training sessions at our facility. During this time, we focus on crate/ex-pen training, building a positive association with going in a crate, socialization, responding to their name, handling/grooming behavior, and basic manners. Because socialization is critical at this time, we take your puppy on lots of appropriate field trips, outings, and include them in play-groups with our helper dogs.
Then, we will schedule nine additional private lessons until your puppy is 6-7 months old and returns to our facility for a three-week board & train where we up the challenge for your puppy and start proofing and generalizing all of the foundations we’ve been working on leading up to their stay with us!
During the 21-Day program your puppy will learn reliable obedience commands on and off leash, including: place, sit, down, stay, coming when called, and loose leash walking. Throughout the program, we also offer unlimited phone/email support that extends for one year after completion of the board & train phase.
The Perfect Puppy Program has a savings of $870 when compared to signing up for the individual programs!
.Puppy primers & Puppy Pre-K
For young dogs, under 6 months. Our home based Puppy Primer program will help teach your puppy important behaviors like “sit”, “stay,” and “come”—and deal with issues like potty training, jumping and mouthing/chewing. Puppy Pre-K is for young puppies, under 20 weeks, and teaches puppies the foundation skills they need for a lifetime of learning such as being comfortable in a kennel/ex-pen, following a lure for sit and down, learning verbal markers, how to self-soothe, foundations for cooperative care such as nail trims, socialization, and setting a schedule for potty training. In both puppy programs, your puppy will stay with us for 14 days.
.Group Classes
You asked - we scheduled. We are offering a limited series of group classes for Alumni dogs during the winter months. Classes offered include a refresher group class as well as a Trick Dog / CGC group class for graduates of any of our obedience training programs. These classes will be held at Heartland Pet Center in Medina, OH. Please click the link below to register, contact us, or check out our Facebook page for more details!
Atlas Canine also offers AKC testing for the CGC, CGC-Advanced (Community Canine), CGC-Urban, Trick Dog, and Virtual Home Manners titles.

Available as an add-on to boarding stays, clients are able to add training to one or more days of their dog’s boarding stay with us at an additional fee of $40/Day.
-
Completed training with your well trained dog, but need a little help with distractions on your walks? Is your loose leash walking a little rusty, and you just a little tune up? Or, are you preparing for a temperament test like the AKC CGC or UKC SPOT-ON and need to practice walking calmly around other dogs? A pack walk with one or more of our demo dogs may be just what you and your dog need.
